I love Everett, but I’m deeply concerned about the direction the city is going. Unfortunately, things have gotten worse in Everett since Mayor Franklin took office.
Since 2018,
- Homelessness in Everett is up 95% (according to the Snohomish County 2025 Point in Time Count).
- The police department has experienced turnover of over 100 officers.
- Police staffing has been consistently 25 to 35 officers short compared to the budget.
- The housing affordability index has dropped from 74.9 to 59 according to the University of Washington Center for Real Estate Research.
- Since 2021, Everett’s fund balance (“rainy day fund”) has dropped from $55 million to $34 million from deficit spending, with an annual deficit now of $5 million in 2025.
When I am elected Mayor, I will begin working immediately to implement positive change in the city, specifically to turn around these issues and put Everett on a better path moving forward.

NO MORE TASK FORCES AND ENDLESS TALK.
Everett needs a change in leadership to get the City back on track.
My vision for Everett is of a safe, welcoming, and thriving city where every resident has the opportunity to succeed. We protect and enhance our quality of life with vibrant neighborhoods, parks, and cultural amenities, while fostering a strong, resilient economy that supports good jobs and innovation. We face challenges head-on, working together across diverse perspectives to create solutions that strengthen our community. In Everett, everyone belongs, everyone is valued, and everyone has a stake in our shared future.
Scott has demonstrated that he understands both the strengths and the challenges of our city. I believe that he will put the people of Everett first and will work with community members and government leaders to find real solutions for the pressing issues of affordability and public safety that we face.
Scott has a bold, progressive agenda for Everett’s future focused on children, young families and seniors. He’s demonstrated that he listens to the community, builds partnerships, and delivers results. I’m proud to support him because I know he will center Everett residents while making the difficult decisions for our shared future.
Scott is uniquely qualified to be Mayor of Everett. We worked together on the City Council for nine years and there was a mutual respect between us. Scott understands the city budget, the financial problems facing the city, and the community we serve. I am confident that Scott will engage the City Council and our community in an open and transparent process to identify ways to improve efficiency and do more with the resources that are available.
I have worked beside Scott for several years and continue to be impressed with his knowledge of fiscal and business management. Scott is committed to our community and he has proven that by listening to our community members and setting priorities to address the needs of our neighbors. We can depend on Scott. Please join me in supporting Scott Murphy for Everett Mayor.
EVERETT IS A HARDWORKING CITY AND THE PEOPLE OF EVERETT DESERVE A HARDWORKING MAYOR WITH INTEGRITY AND GOOD JUDGEMENT. SCOTT MURPHY WILL BE THAT MAYOR.
