First Term Priorities
A vision for a safe, welcoming, and thriving Everett, where every resident has the opportunity to succeed.
As Mayor, my focus will be on delivering results that strengthen Everett’s future. These first-term priorities reflect both progressive values and common-sense leadership, ensuring our city remains a place where families, workers, and businesses can all thrive.
-
1. Free First-Year Community College for Everett Graduates
Every student in Everett deserves the opportunity to pursue higher education, no matter their financial background. I will champion a Free First-Year Community College program modeled after successful programs in other Washington communities.
This initiative will be built in partnership with Everett Community College with a special focus on low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students. Funding will come through ECC student grants, scholarships, and bridge support from philanthropic and business partners, creating an investment in our young people and our city’s future workforce.
-
2. Expanded Access to Childcare
Working families across Everett are struggling to find affordable, reliable childcare. It’s time for the City to take a leadership role.
I will launch a Citywide Childcare Infrastructure Plan to expand access and affordability by:
- Encouraging new licensed providers through zoning flexibility, incentives, and grants
- Piloting neighborhood-based childcare centers
- Exploring subsidy or voucher programs to help working parents
Access to childcare is essential for economic growth, family stability, and equity.

-
3. Mayoral Term Limits
Accountability starts at the top. I will propose a charter amendment limiting the Mayor to two terms (eight years), similar to many other Washington cities.
This change will ensure regular opportunities for new leadership, fresh ideas, and public engagement. I’ll also guarantee a transparent process so voters have a direct say on this important reform.
-
4. Local Climate Action & Resilience
Everett must be part of the solution to climate change. I will lead an update to the City’s climate action plan.
My administration will also launch a Climate Action and Resilience Initiative— bringing together environmental experts, businesses, and residents to guide implementation and track progress toward a cleaner, more sustainable Everett.

-
5. Support for Refugees and Immigrants
Everett’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths. I will establish a Refugee and Immigrant working group within the Mayor’s Office to ensure these communities have a voice in city decisions.
Key initiatives will include:
- Expanding access to services and cultural programming
- Building legal aid partnerships to support immigrant families
- Hosting inclusive, citywide cultural events that celebrate Everett’s diversity
Our city is stronger when everyone feels welcome and valued.
-
6. Ethics Reform: Ban City Contractors from Excess Campaign Contributions
Public trust in government depends on clear ethical boundaries. I will propose an ethics reform ordinance to hold companies bidding on or holding city contracts from making campaign donations to the same limits placed on individuals.
This reform, modeled after successful measures in other cities, will strengthen transparency and ensure that Everett’s decisions serve the public interest, not special interests.

-
7. Support for Youth Activities
I want to work to increase facilities to serve more kids in high need neighborhoods, such as supporting a new Boys & Girls Club in the Casino Road area.
The City will actively explore funding, partnership, and aligned program opportunities to make this vision a reality and strengthen support for youth in one of Everett’s most diverse neighborhoods.
A City That Works for Everyone
These priorities reflect my commitment to practical progress, combining compassion with accountability, innovation with fiscal responsibility, and bold ideas with collaboration. Together, we can make Everett a city where everyone belongs, everyone contributes, and everyone thrives.
